2. National Aquatic Centre - Report of the Attorney General

In March 2002, The Government instituted an inquiry to be carried out under the auspices of the Attorney General, examining issues surrounding the award of the contract for the National Aquatic Centre at Abbotstown. The Report, which was subjected to an examination by the Public Accounts Committee, concluded that certain information regarding the contract was not brought to the attention of the Board of CSID, or the Government. However the Report concluded that the decision of the Assessment Panel to select Rohcon/Waterworld in preference to the other two bidders who submitted detailed bids was not unreasonable, because for reasons concerned with price and design, the preferred bidder was obviously clearly ahead of the other contenders.
