Decentralisation
The Minister for Finance when presenting his 2004 budget proposals in the Dáil provided details of the Government's strategy for decentralisation of the public service. Under these plans over 10,000 civil and public servants will be transferred to 53 separate locations throughout the country. The headquarters of nine Government Departments/Offices will move outside Dublin.

Also included in the moves are the Arts Council (going to Kilkenny), Fáilte Ireland (going to Mallow) and the Sports Council (going to Killarney). The National Cultural Institutions are not involved in these moves.
The Department has compiled a Killarney information booklet. detailing available facilities in the Killarney area for those interested in decentralising to that location.
